Musings

Sometimes I make things. Sometimes I forget I make those things until I find them years later. This is my attempt at capturing the random, one-off, little things I make or do. Enjoy!

(re)fortify Fort Building Event

While digging through old files I found photos from a day we spent putting together a fort for a few awesome little girls.

(re)fortify exists to widen the breadth of possibilities for kids’ futures while benefiting our community and our neighbors in need. Over the course of 5 workshops, we introduce kids to the world of architecture and design while focusing on the creation of a fort concept. We pair kids with local designers to bring these concepts to life with donated materials. The collected clothing and materials are all donated to benefit Breakthrough’s missions and other neighborhood organizations.

After being given the concept board, we collected clothing, interior products, and cash donations in order to bring these little ladies’ dream to life.

After spending half a day putting the fort together with the donated and purchased materials, the kids arrived to enjoy what they had dreamed up. Being a bunch of experience and industrial designers, we couldn’t help but make our little ladies a VIP list and VIP badges. Everyone joined in as we acted as security and paparazzi.

Our fort was pretty awesome! The kids had tons of fun and they really made all the hard work worth it!
