Blind Doodles

What started as a dare on a gum wrapper to draw line illustrations with my eyes closed during a lunch break turned into an office-wide initiative to “blind doodle” every employee at the Gensler Chicago office in 2016. These nearly 300 blind doodles were displayed in the rotating lobby installation for over nine months.

I spent approximately five minutes with each co-worker taking in their unique identifiable features and then letting my visual memory take the lead as I closed my eyes to doodle away. Once I opened my eyes, the drawing was complete. These doodles were as much a surprise to me as they were for the subject. This prompted lots of cross studio conversation and plenty of laughs.
